It's good practice. Japanese is particularly difficult for me, French is easier. I especially like to collect books of short stories that have the English translations on the facing pages. It helps.
I can read English as Dutch, Dutch is my main language. But to keep my English in shape I read in English as well.
I have some clients who can't speak Dutch so it's a good practice. But if you have to learn a language at a higher age it's more difficult.

I read French (mother language), Dutch and English... I think it's not important if you don't understand each word. with the context you can understand them... and with time, you'll undersand always more...
