When Lizzie moves with her mother and her brothers to No.13 Coronation Street at the end of the war, it’s a new start for all of them after the loses and heartache they’ve endured.
Lizzie lands a job working with a young Hilda Ogden, still waiting for her errant husband, Stan, to be de-mobbed. They’re employed by the new owners at the Pride of Weatherfield, who are determined to steal the crown from Annie Walker’s Rovers Return. The girls start to suspect that all is not as it seems at the Pride and Lizzie can’t avoid getting involved when Terry, the handsome new barman at the Rovers starts to take an interest too.
As things take a sinister turn, Lizzie is desperate to hide her own secret, but can her friend Hilda break the habit of a lifetime and keep her trap shut for once?
