The day started off so well. Selene was finishing hererrands in town, finally stopping by a local home decor store to buy some newpieces for the castle. She, Cullen, and Mrs. A had made great strides inredecorating the place. Suddenly, the lights shut off. Later, Selene wakes up to thesound of sirens. And the dead body of a fellow customer. What happened? She doesn’t have a clue, but now she’s theprime suspect in a murder case with Sheriff Andrew vowing to prove that she hadsomething to do with the death. After the murder, Selene has a strange feeling in her chest.As if something is brewing inside of her and is only waiting for theopportunity to emerge. Rowena Hale has a few suspicions about what’s going onwith her, as does Hortensia. Cullen promises to support her throughout the murderinvestigation. Presto becomes much more protective of her, and Selene isshocked to later learn the true reason why the kitten keeps following heraround. She suspects Rurik is involved but isn’t sure how. A visionof how the human world will collapse if she doesn’t stop the fae ruler in timecomes to her in a dream. The Veil is weakening with each passing day.
It’s up to her to clear her name and stop the fae frominfiltrating their realm, but can she do it in time? Will she ever find out thetruth about Presto and his otherworldly abilities?
